Here's your next exercise:
An author is paid by the following royalty schedule: $1.05 for each copy sold up a certain cut-off point, and $1.20 thereafter. If she earns $15,090 from sales of 13,200 copies of her book, what is the cut-off point?

She is payed $1.05 for the first X books then she is payed $1.20 per book thereafter...
$1.05 for the first X books
$1.20 for the first y books
$15,090 from sales of 13,200 copies of her book

Let x = the number of books sold at $1.05
Let y= the number of books sold at at $1.20

-- So --

We know that x+y = the total sales (13,200 books)
We know that $1.05*X + 1.2*Y = the total proceeds ($15,090)

You take it from there...:):):)
