A capacitor has gone bang in my Wurlitzer jukebox (about 15 years old).

It is attached near to the transformer it is wired in via a terminal block with live, neutral and earth wires.

The details I can get off it are:

0.47uF +2x3’ 900pF X1Y2
+680k
56026000030 A3
250v - HMF 25/100/21C
Ref. 0012425 0613

Really struggling to source a replacement so could do with either a recommendation of a supplier or an alternative that I could use.

Look for the WIMA MKP4 version, they should be available from several sources, Digikey etc.
OK that looks like 2 in one, you could just use two separate versions.

0.47uF 250VAC film capacitor. Digikey lists about a hundred options:

Though I didn't notice any with a ground connection because they don't generally have a metal can that might need to be grounded for safety.

You could check with the manufacturer to see if they have stock, or sources. Or you could just replace with a 2 terminal cap without the ground connection. Most film capacitors are 2 terminal because they don't use metal cases that you might want to ground for safety.

Ok - have sent an email to a company called FIscher and Tausch in Germany (I can’t be sure if they were the manufacturer as their logo is different and it may have changed) to see if they can help.

I also wondered about the earth and if it was completely necessary. Can you recommend a replacement?

The white/clear conductor appears to be a common for a pair, (each black).
If you use two, a conductor on each would be made common.
It could even consist of a R/C supression network.

An X1Y2 capacitor consists of 3 capacitors intern.

Yours also seems to have a 680k bleeder resistor build in.

Now it’s not just the capacitor that’s blown - so is my mind!

 

Look up R/L/C suppression, filters or snubbers.

 

It's a mains filter cap. 470nF class-X across live and neutral with a 680k discharge resistor then 3900pF Class-Y from live to ground and from neutral to ground.
The clear conductor connects to earth.
The jukebox will manage without it, until you can source another.

The values aren't too important. It's just an interference filter.
