That is a compelling show. I had not seen it before. Blue man group seemed to have set new standards in show effects - I wonder what the Joshua Light Show, with their cutting edge shows in the 60s and 70s, thinks about something like that.I guess this video has been on YouTube for about 10 years. Funny I never ran across until yesterday.
It is one the most stunning performance I've ever seen, both auditorily and visually.
I'm gonna have to go see one of these live at some point.
BTW, I wasn't a Donna Summer fan. She was way too pop for me -- and way overplayed. But had she done it like this, I might have felt differently.
Wow. Rappers in China are (officially!) proud of their country.
A little bit of local pride. Boston was the second Blue Man Group production founded four years after the original New York production. It is still running after 24 years of performances. There are now many productions worldwide. That is a compelling show. I had not seen it before. The vocalist is Annette Strean who, along with two other guys, who I guess are back there somewhere, are Venus Hum - a name that apparently comes from a malady, venous hum, in which one can hear humming from their blood flow.
She has a really nice voice (which she almost lost completely) although I was not otherwise overwhelmed by their music, but only listened to a bit on youtube.
Train, train take me on out of this town!Music that makes you smile
Yeah, well I'm not sure how you do much better than the Blue Man group for that sort of thing. The Performance with "I feel Love" is not good by accident and I have to hand it to the folks that came up with that and pulled off. Annette Strean is perfect for it and what I heard of her is nothing like that song. But she is(was) the perfect icon for sexy geek - everything about her in that performance. I guess all I am saying is that stuff does not occur by accident and they not only had the idea, but they pulled it off.A little bit of local pride. A live show is incredible! They perform comedy as well as music
You also mentioned Donna Summer. Yes, she’s pop but her voice was incredible. Annette didn’t come close. She was born and grew up in Boston. You may have seen she came from Roxbury, but that is a neighborhood of Boston.
Aerosmith and NKOTB are also from Boston. You can run into Steven Tyler around town. And I was friends with Joey McIntire’s family. The Wahlbergs also lived in my hometown, and I knew Mark and Donnie. Mark also had a singing career, performing as Marky Mark
That is, perhaps, the last thing I would have expected you to post.
The mixture of classical Offenbach and Can Can is irresistible. That is, perhaps, the last thing I would have expected you to post.
What a sad, sorrowful song.Smile through tears...
Not very good translation, but better than nothing:
Yes! It's settled! Now and for ever I have left my dear old plain.
And the winged leaves of poplars will never Ring and rustle above me again.
Our house will sag in my absence, And my dog died a long time ago.
Me, I"m fated to die with compassions In the crooked streets of Moscow, I know.
I admire this city of elm-trees
With decrepit buildings and homes.
Golden somnolent Asian entities
Are reposing on temple domes.
When the moonlight at night, dissipated,
Shines... like hell in the dark sky of blue!
I walk down the alley, dejected,
To the pub for a drink, maybe, two.
It"s a sinister den, harsh and roaring, But in spite of it, all through the night
I read poems for girls that go whoring And carouse with thieves with delight.
Now I speak but my words are quite pointless,
And the beat of my heart is fast:
"Just like you, I am totally worthless, And I cannot re-enter the past".
Our house will sag in my absence. And my dog died a long time ago.
Me, I"m fated to die with compassions In the crooked streets of Moscow, I know.
The video you posted is one of my favorites. I show it to my High School Theater students as an example of dance in film musicals.
I was sharing this with some friends and I got dinged because I did not recognize someone...I thought the lady at 2:10 looked/acted really cool and I asked who it was. I got dinged because it was Ginger Rogers and "I should have known that". I requested that she (the dinger) add that to my long list of deficiencies (which I am sure she was happy to do).The video you posted is one of my favorites.
