You can buy that strip from a hardware shop, used for intruder detection, via windows doors etc, termination end clamps are also available.
There is a certain elasticity to those tapes. We have yet to define what a "TINY" amount of movement means. And yes, this IS turning into a marathon questioning session. Detecting hundreds of potential breaks will literally require a machine inside a machine. I don't see this happening. But then again I'm not a great visionary. We have no clear parameters defined as to what is needed or wanted, nothing defining conditions and potential variabilities and on and on. Besides, if the TS wants an engineering solution then the TS needs to consult an engineering firm. Nobody here wants to do engineering work for free.

I'm out'a here.

Stay healthy.

Forget the solution.
What is the problem?

You have a machine with 1000 fasteners.
How big is the machine?
What kind of fasteners are being used?
What are the vibrational characteristics and modes? For example, is it high speed rotational like a jet engine or a reciprocating motor like an internal combustion engine?

Vibrational acoustic analysis comes to mind, or even just a video camera.
Cannot say until we find out the exact type of machine.
