Modify turn signal single filament circuit to dual filament marker system

I'm looking to upgrade my 2003 New Beetle front indicator (flasher lights) from a 2 wire single filament bulb to a 3 wire dual filament bulb so I can incorporate US style marker light functionality.

The Euro spec Beetle has a clear lense and orange bulb, dedicated to flasher use only.

I have obtained the split amber/white US lenses which use a 2 filament white bulb to provide flasher and parking light functions.

Now what I need is to modify the wiring. I can take feeds from both the flasher and parking lights and the ground of course.

I'd like them to function as below...

Parking light +, Flasher - = Parking light element +, Flasher element -

Parking light +, Flasher + = Parking light element -, Flasher element +

Parking light -, Flasher + = Parking light element -, Flasher element +

Parking light -, Flasher - = Parking light element -, Flasher element -

I was thinking I might need diodes or relays to create a logic gate setup where both inputs when high cancel the parking light output (low during flashing only).

Any help appreciated.

You could connect a SPDT relay coil to the Flasher voltage and connect the Parking light bulb through the relay normally-closed (NC) contact.
