Hello, q12 here.
I have a Fun idea. I want this mobile screen to get white lit, like a lamp. Basically to transform it into a tiny lamp. Or like a back lit plate and on top of it to draw, you know, like copying on the window with 2 papers. Its called drawing transfer (from 1 paper to another). I want this for a very long time. I want your thoughts IF what I want is humanly possible or if it's "too hard".
I got this mobile for spare parts. My father blow soup on him, inside a bag and it was full of soup inside the mobile. I clean the screen as best as I could and I think it will be good enough.
My real question for you is HOW to get this mobile screen powered ? To make it full white.
I had another mobile screen before and I randomly played with 5V on all the tiny pins on that brown ribbon connector, and I could see and hear a tiny pop and also I could smell, my best guess a smd capacitor, or something, they are all black dots in there.
But here with this new screen, I have a second chance. This is not blown up, it was and it will, work fine if we will find the way. I also want to understand the principle of powering it up.
I dont expect it to work, it probably not work at all, but lets try anyway.
The tiny connector has 24 pins in total on 2 sides, so 12 on one side or the other.

Thank you and I hope we can make it !!!

Hello there :)make model serial number any information you can find on the phone itself and what kind of soup was it? ;)
Super and thanks !
It is a Nokia phone but now when Im looking on it, it doesnt say it's number !!! This is very bad !
But I got some numbers on the battery and on the screen itself.

These are the numbers on the screen component itself, on its back:
it say: 028HS5007C0 (be careful, those 0 number may be O letter and that H kind of looking like a N, but my best guess its a H)
then A00-K0 or AOO-KO ?
then T 28QHX01 (or that T is a 1?)
then i think is a 23 9- ___ - 11 M8
IMG_20210707_030301.jpg

And these are all the other numbers I could get from it:
I suppose the battery is universal, right? If it is specific to this phone, then I can write down it's text for you.
IMG_20210707_030330.jpgIMG_20210707_030455.jpg

It says Nokia but NO Number !!! MF's !
IMG_20210707_030400.jpgIMG_20210707_030430.jpg
We can guess what NOKIA number phone it is !!! He is having it for 1 or 2 years, maybe? or even more than that? In any case is not from this year.
- OOOh, the soup was not good at all, dont cry for it, it was a very bad soup, thats why he put it in a jar (and the jar in a bag) and carry it to give it to some dogs at a house somewhere. The dogs didnt want to eat that soup !!! That bad it was. Haha.

Hmm, I think I find the DATE when this phone was assembled I suppose:
2019/08/12 as yyyy/mm/dd

In my mind, I wildly guess that these screens are universal ! Again, I am guessing big time. I never spent too much time on them. That's why I'm asking the specialists here. Shouldn't they be universal? or at least some universal pins or ways of connection ? Its how I think.
So the connector looks pretty much like this screenshot; except mine has 12 and 12 pins on each side (24 in total).
Is like an L profile that you plug it in.

Then... let me ask you something else.
How you would normally power up a mobile screen, without attaching it to its motherboard ?
Desn't matter the model or number of it.
Give me a page where I can read about it, the process and the details.
Again, this is not a critical problem, if WE are blowing it up, then I will not cry about it. I was throwing it away, anyway. But I stopped and thought to make a "glowing pad" from it. Well, for a very long time I am planning this but just recently had the scrap for it. You know how it is, you have 1mil ideas.

No problem, I should have started with "I am an artist and not an electronist" but I imagine some people here knows me already. And is true, I am an artist. So... to answer your question, if I know how to read a schematic? Well, I know to a point. I can read the component level, the majority of them, but I admit, there are some very weird components that I can not read/understand. But in general, on component level, yes I am good enough to understand it. There is another level, that I am inferior and very rookie, and I admit I am. That level is the module level. I know SOME modules in a schematic, but for sure I dont know them all. And by some, I mean very few. If I was a real electronist, doing this thing all the time, I would knew those modules but since im not, well, I cant say I know them. But I know something.... very limited and very basic though.
The other problem, your link. Your link had some issues for me. That website ( https://www.scribd.com ) put me to register. And I did register, that was fine and very quick I may say. But then, they asked me for money....even if they clearly announce it is free, they still asked me for a bank account. For me, these type of websites I highly avoid because they look and feel like a scam websites. At least for me it feels like that. Sorry. Simply because of asking of my money that I dont have. So... your link = not good. If you can screenshot or give me the page or the pdf of that thing to look in it, well, that will be good. But I really dont have money to swim so lightly in this capitalistic internet which is full of promises but not real help anymore.
Otherwise, I must find another way of lighting that screen up. Without your help.
Again, if there are some general rules of powering these things, will be very much appreciated.
Thank you again.

You're killing me!
Bad judgment of my part your wise not to give any information I saw it as free schematic download as well. I'll delete that post.
I wish to help in achieving your goals with the components you have on hand and having fun at the same time
I'll see if it's possible. I would clean it up as best I could, insert a charged battery, pressed the on button see if the display lights up and we can go from there.

If it's an LCD (possibly TFT), you can't just use straight DC- you'll burn it up in spots and ruin it. Use a 32Hertz signal, and an and gate to power-pixels.

The part that lights up is a group of LEDs and they would be powered by a DC voltage with something to limit the current. Unless it is an LED screen, in which case there is a need to light all of the pixels THAT would be very complicated.

Thank you very much, and I believe you want to help me ! But if it is really that hard (it shouldn't), then is not a problem. We tried and we played a little.
The other guys here come with some interesting answers, that the technology of the screen may vary so the way of powering it up will differ as well. That is a point I didnt think too much on it. We should "test" or guess better, what type of screen is, but I am pretty sure is LED based. But I am guessing. I dont really know yet.
I'll see if it's possible. I would clean it up as best I could, insert a charged battery, pressed the on button see if the display lights up and we can go from there.
I just did exactly this before writing here. The screen stays Black all the time while the batery is connected. Only the white leds on the motherboard are staying lit brightly. THats the only signal I get that the battery is powering the thing.

Getting a white screen display will require that all of the pixel element driver circuits are functioning, and that they are given the correct drive signals.THAT is not a simple task at all.

Thank you ! It is exactly what happen with my first screen, some time ago. I applied randomly 5V all over the input pins and something pop out audible enough and also smelly enough to understand that I blow it.

Use a 32Hertz signal, and an and gate to power-pixels.
Easier said than done. I thought on some options whith what I have available:
1- My first thought was that my DSO138 oscilloscope has a signal generator on it. But after a bit of researching on youtube, I understand it is only reading signals. I found this "Analog bandwidth 0-200KHz" specification in its datasheet. It is the max range it can measure I guess. So I will use it to measure your precise 32Hertz signal, genearted by some external device, probably that I have to build.
2- I guess, I can build a signal generator with a NE555 or a flip-flop circuit. But... it is my first signal generator that I built and practically use (in my life). I need much guidance on this specific road. Im also thinking on the signal generator voltage output. It must be in the range of 1V I am highly guessing.

Getting a white screen display will require that all of the pixel element driver circuits are functioning, and that they are given the correct drive signals.THAT is not a simple task at all.
I hear you. And I was thinking in the beginning the same way. That's why I'm here, to discover and learn a little bit more, hopefully with all the guys help. I am aware I have a tiny bit of chance of making it work, but... I'll give it a try anyway. And I will learn some other stuff on the way. Thank you for your direct confirmation of my original suspicion. You point it very well and it is very helpful for me to understand what Im dealing with. Very good explanation.
