Don't listen to the nay-sayers. If you are prepared to do a lot of reading and googling you will be able to make progress, and you will learn a great deal.

I am not “naysaying” anything that is possible or practical. My suggestion was specifically to read and google and learn in a stepwise fashion. The only naysaying I engaged in was related to “I have these parts, tell me how to make this thing”.

That is not reading, googling, and learning—it’s just demanding a solution.

So, if anyone is saying “you can never do this”, it is the right thing not to listen. But if someone is saying “for you to do this you have to learn what doing it actually means”, then listen to them.

No. The Pi is more than capable of handling both the application timing and the display timing.

You should read up on the HUB75 protocol and look at other people's code that implements it.
