i thought it's a capable thing until this test design (computed the xx3X063 step-up by the d/s formulas ... except the fMIN is a random guess)
universal controller versus retail one
... a remainder : the output here is near 1W /!\

Undecipherable garbage. Also, there is no 33063 controller in there. If either of the drawings is supposed to be an equivalent circuit, they are not.

BTW, there are ***billions*** of power supplies operating right now using the 33063. If there is a problem with a circuit, it is *not* with the chip.

actually it's very simple (Yes/No) one :

Is it possible to use the *MC34063 for an efficient (≥68%) SMPS design
that powers the 1W 9V LED light from (used) 3.7V 800mAh Li-Po
--or--
this* controller can't do it

( i will push it* below the specified 3V VsMIN as far the chip* allows )

What you're saying is that you want a 3.7V @ 800mAh to be converted to 9V at 1W. let's do some math to see if energy conversion is even possible using Watt's law:

Input:

P = IE
P = 0.800 * 3.7
P = 2.96 Watts

Output:

I = P/E
I = 1/9
I = 0.111 Amps

So you need to know if the MC34063 can output 9V at 0.111A. BOOST configuration: here's how that works out:

Yes, it can.

Thanks , i'll try that ...
( ... but meanwhile i already made another v. that performs better in simulation ( , the capacitor values are also a bit large ) )

now tried the Excel v. ...
? interesting , but in principle ok

cc + voltage regulation (may be a poor choice at "too low" input voltages) // not fully tested , incomplete

as i only got the de-soldered SOP-8 SMPS controller chip from some failed device i needed a test-jig
. . . that - came out more complex than the "Led Flasher" itself

The CT & RE would be sufficient to induce timer oscillations
but i intend to test the IPK limiter also . . .

i'm using the 1-st model not yet the 2-nd one (from #7 , the thumb below . . . Right-Click , Open in new tab)
