Hi everyone,

I'm a student working on a project in the Transportation & Logistics domain.

We are developing a prototype of an intelligent vehicle health monitoring and predictive-maintenance device for commercial trucks.

The idea is to read real-time data from the truck's CAN/ECU network, send it through an MCU to the cloud, and use machine learning to identify abnormal vehicle behavior and provide an early warning for potential failures.

What I'm looking for
I'm looking for real-world CAN/J1939 data from commercial trucks, preferably Indian trucks.

Useful parameters would include:

  • Engine RPM
  • Vehicle speed
  • Engine load
  • Coolant temperature
  • Fuel-related parameters
  • Accelerator/throttle position
  • Battery/charging voltage
  • Engine hours
  • DTC/fault information
  • Other available ECU parameters
  • Timestamp for each measurement
If available, it would be extremely helpful to have:

  • Raw CAN/J1939 logs (.asc, .blf, .mf4, .csv, etc.)
  • CAN IDs / PGNs
  • SPN/signal information
  • DBC files or other signal definitions
I'm particularly interested in data from Indian commercial vehicles such as Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, Eicher, BharatBenz, Mahindra, etc., although data from other heavy-duty vehicles would also be useful.

Why I need it
Our intended pipeline is:

Truck CAN/ECU → CAN transceiver → MCU → Cloud → ML anomaly detection/predictive maintenance → Fleet dashboard

The ML system will first learn normal vehicle behavior and then attempt to detect abnormal trends that could indicate developing problems.

I'm especially interested in time-series data from normal driving, and if anyone has legally shareable/anonymized data from abnormal or fault conditions, that would be even more valuable.

I am not looking for confidential or proprietary ECU information. Anonymized data or publicly shareable CAN/J1939 logs are perfectly fine.

Even a 10–30 minute anonymized CAN/J1939 recording from one commercial truck would be very useful for our initial development.

If anyone has real truck CAN logs, J1939 datasets, experience collecting CAN data from Indian trucks, or suggestions on where I can legally obtain such data, I would really appreciate your guidance.

Thank you!
