Thanks! It's looking as if that's the way I'm headed...
FWIW: I have a pending inquiry in to 'Thermal Wire', While I doubt they sell in 'arbitrary' quantities, perhaps they've a 'line' upon a retail distributor - one can but hopeo_O:)

IIRC said stock is quite similar to 'plastic' fuel line products (available down to <5mm Dia) --- definitely worth checking out! -- Thanks!:)

Best regards
HP:cool:
The braided hose that was popular for fuel pipes on British motorcycles is easier to find in the size that fits over standard HT cables - it looks nice when new, but eventually discolours with age. UV from corona discharge probably wouldn't help. It was not anything significant where ignition pulses were involved.

At 10$ per foot the price is great too! Unfortunately the 100' (i.e. ≈ $1000) minimum purchase is likely asking too much of the average skinflint Ahem... EHT enthusiast, who --loathe though I am to say it-- tend to be pikers!:confused::( (IECD developers excepted:cool:)

Many thanks for your reply!

Finding suitable cable is probably much easier than insulating any termination points.

It can provide a fair bit of entertainment on car ignition and TV EHT lead terminations.
Ian Field that's why we totally slime Federal Standard Connectors with vaporproofing compound! Cuz 170mA with 250kv behind it (which is gt 42kw) does a lot of damage just in the blink of an eye when it cuts loose! HP has lost line powered xray xfmrs that way and it's so nasty it's scary:eek:!

HP I agree! $1k is an awesome price for 100 ft of new HV wire which is enough to have on hand for years! HP I say no point complaining abt their tightfistedness cuz you're one who insists on making amateur scientists of clueless tyros! HP I say more power to you (npi) but I also say you have work cut out for you making HV compare favorably to diet Coke, Cheetos and porn videos in their eyes:rolleyes:

In the applications I mentioned; RTV silicone rubber is usually adequate - the usual stuff from DIY stores exudes acetic acid as it cures, which can corrode copper and cause leakage paths. Dow Corning is one manufacturer I know of who make silicone RTV that doesn't.

--Emphasis Added--

But then the Tutorial series is neither expected nor intended to 'reach' the bone idle:confused: -- but, rather, genuinely interested (albeit, perhaps, 'under-motivated'/misinformation-jaded) individuals amenable to/desirous of a conceptual treatment of the subject (with practical exercises/projects to keep it 'interesting';))

Inasmuch as retention of their pocket change is 'make or break' with some of them - I'm happy to oblige where same is consistent with good practice and safety:cool:

Best regards
