I have many times found myself with a pile of loose resistors or caps, sometimes quite a few. It takes a long time to sort them and put them in some organized storage. If I was rigorous about the cost-benefit analysis, I might just chuck them in the bin, but I can't bring myself to do it.
Occasionally, I spend some time sorting and filing—but it's so tedious. I have an "inbox" in my parts drawers that is supposed to receive small quantities of parts to be refiled but if I don't keep up it can accumulate fast. It always seems there are little piles of random resistors and the like on the bench.
What do you do with loose components?
