Hi. I am using an LM386 opamp Module from Amazon. I am powering it with a 5V input (just to power it, not intending to amplify anything at this point). Nevertheless a multimeter measures an amplified output of around 1v-2v.

When I put an actual input that I want to amplify nothing really changes. Why I am getting an output without giving input?

Did you have the required 3 to 8 ohm load on the output, when you measured.?

LM386 is an audio amplifier not an opamp.

 

From the LM386 datasheet:

"The inputs are ground referenced while the output
automatically biases to one-half the supply voltage."

 

Thanks all, after connecting a speaker to it I was actually able to confirm that it was working. Further I was also able to measure the voltage change.
