Yes from the DMX box all inputs (into the ULN2003) are just under 12v no matter what the setting
H00 - H03 the readings are from the ULN2003 output

Hello,

Are the outputs of the DMX open collector or open drain?
Then you need a resistor from the outputs to the positive powersupply connection.

ok its the earth that is causing the problems from my limited understanding, the dmx box when set to off has no volts on any lines RGB set to H0 1 R has 12v and so on so all good at that end and is working correctly, as soon as the earth from the power supply is involved every thing gets 12v no matter what is connected thus all lights are on. this comes back to my original query of 5 wires on the fixture + RGB - only 4 wires on the DMX box + RGB as the negatives are the RGB.

if I disconnect the PSU negative wire nothing works but there is 12v at the ULN2003 still no leds on that though.

The negative and positive wire from the power supply must always be connected to the DMX, inverter board and light fixture. As shown in post 65.
When reading voltages the negative lead on the meter is connected to Neg of the supply.

Hello,

Post #65 assumes that the 3 V+ terminals are connected together, also it assumes that the 3 V- terminals are connected together.

Correct, but why would they not be connected together?
I posted that image of that DMX from an on line image. I don't think it's exactly the same unit the TS has because that image shows five pin outputs where the one the TS owns shows only four.

yes thats right I have it connected that way positive psu to both fixture and inverter same with negative, but Im trying to say that this turns all the lights on regardless of RGB connected or not the 12v by passes the RGB also in that configuration the positive from the dmx box is not connected anywhere so not making a circuit with the DMX box.

As long as the fixture and inverter are connected to neg and +12V then the +12V from the DMX four pin connector can be left open.
Is this what you have setup?

Then something is still not connected correctly or defective.
First need to test the inverter board alone.
Connect neg and +12V to the inverter with nothing connected to the input or output.
All LEDs on the inverter should be OFF.
Is this correct?

Now connect the 3 RGB lines from the
fixture to the output side of the inverter, a, b and c. Leave the input side open
Connect neg and +12V to the fixture.
All LEDs on the inverter should still be OFF and all LEDs on the fixture should be on.
Is this correct?
