I give blood every 8 weeks. The vaccine needle is a mosquito compared to the railroad spike they use for that. I don't like it but whatever. If somebody needs blood so badly they'll take mine, they can have it. Probably the easiest way to save lives I can think of.

I’m O Positive, not a Universal Donor but my plasma I can donate to anyone type O- can donate to anyone. Me donate plasma? run it through a Machine and back to me. Not do‘en it.

Taking it is fine, but not that way. I can only receive blood from O+ or O- luckily most people of the world have O+ I most likely have a better chance of finding donor’s than other blood types.

I too, desperately hate needles ... but what I do is I block the event out of my mind 'till the time comes and don't look at the process until it's over...
I can't do that effectively. I can do it on and off, but it will intrude in my thinking and there is always background anxiety.

So, I did way uo with a sore arm. Nothing terrible. If it gets no worse it's really not a problem.

i am having vague feelings of not-quite-right and my sleep was poor, but so far, nothing so bad I'd complain too much.

While I am fine with needles I have developed a fear of flying. I see a plane and my palms start to sweat. Anyway you overcame the fear for the injection so there you go. :)

Just read this article on J&J vaccine.

In the US, 6 cases of blood clots have been reported in women getting the J&J vaccine. One died and one is in critical condition.

I was scared. I have a history of bad and/or allergic reactions. If you have trouble breathing, the first thing they give you is benedril. I'm allergic to it. But I did it and absolutely no side effects. Just felt tired later in the afternoon. No big deal.

So 6 cases in 7 million jabs, a similar rate to the AZ vaccine. Still about 100x rarer than clotting in young women from taking the pill and on par with getting DVT on a long-haul flight... in other words not much to worry about... and how many more will die from Covid because of delays to being vaccinated or being scared off by media noise...

I'm not an anti-vaxer in any way, shape, or form. I was just passing along information as a public service so that anyone experiencing severe adverse reactions can seek prompt medical attention.

Regarding the rarity. Tell that to the family of the woman who died. For them, it was still one too many.

Sorry, I wasn't implying or intending to imply anything of the sort.

And agreed, it is tragic, but so is not having the vaccine and passing Covid on to many others. And given the latest stats that 1 in 3 who get Covid suffer significant neurological issues vaccinating is a no-brainer in my book...

Got my first dose (Sputnik V) three hours ago. Next should be not before 21 days.

Everything did run smoothly. As a frequent blood donor for decades, my habit of watching on purpose the needle while making its way in, cured any possible uneasiness.

My habit is to look away and practice meditative breathing... I fainted and fell into my face getting the (at the time) required blood test for my marriage license. Should have been a sign!

My theory is that watching them makes them more careful. I cringe when I watch some wiggling the syringe around after it's in someone's arm.
