Just so you don't think I'm piker, all the way to 200 proof would be fun but that needs chemical drying agents in liquor so it would be unfit for human consumption But isn't it nice that 96% is permissible?

My ancestors are from the "Vodka Belt" but apparently those from the far western edge of the belt can't take drink the Polish versions of triple-digit proof. The drying effect of some of those "high-test" rocket fuels from the eastern-bloc on mucus membranes is like a chemical burn. I'm going to pass. 80 proof is enough for me.

I think most people just went to bed early so they could wake up in time for their appointments on Saturday morning.
Support for my theory: My local liquor store still had fully stocked shelves on Saturday.
