what is the purpose/function of j3y transistor in led strip circuit.I have an knightrider strip and it doesnt work 3 sections(6*3 leds) out of 8 sections.I have count that there are 8 j3y transistors.I think there is 1 j3y for 6 leds. Am I correct? Will it be correct if I will replace that j3y transistors? I have attached some photos of circuit and j3y s.

 

It's a NPN transistor and looks like it's used as a Collector driver.
