Hey Guys.
I am trying to confirm this component but I like some advice



I got a datasheet and I think it is the same thing. What do you think ?
I cannot seem to find a seller ?
Any body know where I an buy it ?

Maybe you can buy 15-volt version of a LM2940.

 

Looks like you found it, 15 V 1A LDO regulator.

Not sure if the center on IS ground or floating allowing the back tab to be ground. An ohmmeter can sort that out. As long as you find a matching Pinot you should be fine subtitling this with any other LDO regulator, and perhaps a non LDO as well depending on this application.

 

Center pin is ground.
I tried another as the board has a couple and it is a 15V Regulator.
Input is OK so I believe any 15V will do.

In this case "ok" means 17 to 18 volts. Minimum. Under load too, least you need the LDO type that is in there now.

 

Input is high. Do not understand why a LDO was used.

There is such little cost difference between "standard" and LDO types there is little need to use a non-LDO even where it is not called for.

When designing things I like to leave as much margin in my pocket as I can safely and cheaply sneak in there.

 

May be they had LDO on hand

 

Why do you suspect the part to be bad? More than once I have seen the output of a regulator pulled very low as a result of another fault down the line. Sort of you are looking at the symptom and not the cause.

It's the cause.
PCB is repaired. Used a 7815
