the HIN cotrols the upper FET of the half bridge the LIN controls the lower FET of the half bridge,

No this confused me too. you pulse BOTH the (HIN) AND (LIN) with high (5v) pulses alternatly with dead time of 1us! to avoid "shoot through"

In the picture, it is assumed that red is high input and green is low input.

Are you saying that the input signal that Mr. Alec_t and Mr. scottsman mentioned should be included as shown in the photo?

the dead time is the time between switching HIN to LIN to 5v back and forth

 

say from your red and green box analogy the reds represent off (0V) and the green represent on (5V)

So you NEED to download and install LTSpice, It's a simulator and it's fantastic also the zzz library honestly one of the best bits of kit
