That seems to explain why you chose to live in a cold place, but, "seems to" is the operative phrase here.My present genes say I come from German, Czech, Russian, Norwegian and likely Irish ancestry

this will be off topic, but I can't help it. Many people are planning this. Mexico, Costa Rica are prime targets on their list. The real estate there is becoming unaffordable to the local people. Where are they supposed to move? This is the world we live in now - noone looks at the bigger picture... Want a job, move to where the jobs are, forget that you have family ties in a certain area, forget that a strong family is able to take care of elderly relatives and young children without offloading them onto social assistance... I can go on and on. And this all done for the name of what is not even paper money anymore but just invisible computer bits. Who is God now:That's sort of true but then where you want to be and why plus what lengths you are willing to go to, again, plays a significant role in things as well. Counter to what some any claim everyone of us in the America and most developed countries have the means and capacity to pack up and move to some other location where we can get what we want for far less and often times get non standard jobs that pay extramly well if we are willing to travel and or do actual hard work for a while.
At present my property is worth about $250K - $300K in local market values. But in some higher end regions of the country it would easily bring $1 million or more and still have no where near the conveniences and favorable costs of living I have either. Now take the value of either place and go overseas to one of countless countries that have regions with standards of living as high or higher than we have here in the US and that money can buy someone a mansion on the side of a mountain, literally!
A friend of mine was telling me that she is considering moving to one of the smaller South American countries someday given that there she can live as well or even better than she does here for 1/10 the cost. Making and saving $100K in the US does get you much but when it can buy you the standard of living that having a million plus in the bank does it's not such a unreasonable or unattainable goal to work with. Especially if a person is willing to put forth the work to make it like going into the oil fields or a similar high pay industry for 2 - 3 years rather than eak out a living at near minimum wage in some high cost of living location for 40 - 50!
Born and raised here so this feels like home to me just as my ancestors felt when they traveled halfway around the world to settle here to start a new life in a better location for numerous reasons. That seems to explain why you chose to live in a cold place, but, "seems to" is the operative phrase here.![]()

I was born and raised in Indianapolis and I can't figure why anybody would want to live there except it is a tertiary hub to massive industry in Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland, and (market center) St Louis. To a lesser degree to Dayton, Pittsburgh and Louisville. When steel comes from China, the American automotive industry collapses, and cows don't walk to St. Louis, Indianapolis loses its reason to live.Born and raised here so this feels like home to me
Here is what I got from this - people make war with others because they are unhappy with the upbringing/habitat/familiesAdapt, assimilate or perish. They are three of the most defining aspects of the human standards of life we have practiced since the beginning of time being not everyone was raised and lived in a home or family where they wanted to stay around an associated with once they got old enough to leave and start a new life for themselves that could be governed by their own rules and wants rather than someone else's.
What I got was, "people migrate" for at least a dozen different reasons, some as simple as, "I don't want to live in my mother's basement".Here is what I got from this - people make war with others because they are unhappy with the upbringing/habitat/families
The main reason is actually "there's no food in this place!" ....What I got was, "people migrate" for at least a dozen different reasons, some as simple as, "I don't want to live in my mother's basement".
I moved to Florida because I was without home, vehicle, or job, and down to my last $100.The main reason is actually "there's no food in this place!" ....

I knew I could fly to Florida for $90 and hack a Swamp Cabbage before dark, but you can't climb a fruit tree in Indianapolis in January at -10C. So, I guess I did move because, "There's no food here" but I had a few exacerbators.
Right. Dictionary time. Root word = "exacerbate".
I already had character. That's why I wouldn't do sex for a place to sleep or some food.Good Lord... talk about a character-building experience!

That was my point. There are many reason people will pack up and move away from their birth locations and family. Some to get away from a bad situation and other to find a better life that they can bring them to and many many more. What I got was, "people migrate" for at least a dozen different reasons, some as simple as, "I don't want to live in my mother's basement".
The way I heard that is, "Must have been designed by a committee to put the playground next to the sewage plant."Who else would put the pleasure centre so near the waste outlet!
When we have claims of "I believe <insert extraordinary claim here> to be true" offered without justification there can be no discussion and such statements do nothing to advance our understanding of reality; they only reduce the signal-to-noise ratio.42 is the answer. But what was the question? Question is usually more important than the answer I find...
Looking around, I actually see that many people have stopped asking questions, thus no discussion is happening, just shouting and shutting down anyone with opposing "thoughts"
Aah! That was refreshing. I completely forgot about that
All questions are fair and I will do my best to clear out any confusion.I have a question for the Religious here and the 'rest'. Does anyone believe, like Mohammed did for example, that Jesus was just another mortal man.
Probabally not a fair question for some.
Max.
Just one question; what evidence do you have for any of these claims?Jesus of Nazareth (PBUH) was a mortal man. Like the rest of us. But his prayers was answered instantly and he was a powerful prophet.
Answering to others regarding Jesus of Nazareth (PBUH).
He was not crucified. The traitor was made to look like him.
He was taken to heaven, body and soul. So Jesus (PBUH) is still alive.
He will return to kill the Anti-Christ.
Any more questions?![]()
This is what happens when no one decides to use proud defiant stupidity and trolling as a way out of having to admit their beliefs are wrong.I am indeed surprised and Happy that how well we are getting along. Unlike the other threads.
We can indeed have civilized discussions even though we have different beliefs.
