Insulation thickness

Assuming a round hole, two circles 0.013" diameter will require a hole 0.026" in diameter. The insulation is a little compressible, so a slightly smaller hole will give a tight fit.

Hello. I have a 36AWG wire, with insulation diameter 0.013 (http://www.alphawire.com/en/Products/Wire/Hook-Up-Wire/ThermoThin). I tried to measure two wires together, but it doesn’t fit with my calculations.

If I need to fit two of these wires (DC current) inside a hole, how small can that hole be?
Hi,

I would not recommend making the hole too small especially if it is in metal.
The 3 dimensional thermal expansion and tiny vibrations ever present in nature could wear the insulation off.
Normally a grommet is used but i dont know what you are doing exactly.

This is a somewhat interesting problem as there are exact solutions to problems of fitting small circles inside of a larger circle where sometimes the smaller circles are the same size and sometimes they vary by integer multiples 1,2,3,...,etc.
But that is for an exact fit anyway which i believe you should not do. At least allow some wiggle room.
