That has been a typical methodology for AB for some decades when I first used them, many of their components and devices were either re-branded, or AB took them over and put their name on.

This is common across the board. Omron & Yaskawa were in bed as of a few years ago and their drives were identical. Look at the drives Schneider and Toshiba are selling today. Toshiba AS3 = Schneider ATV630. I wonder who actually makes the drives, how many VFD manufacturers there actually are. Probably not many.
