I have an industrial saw which has stopped working as a relay burnt out (from damp sawdust by the looks of it). It's an old saw and not worth a lot but worked great before this so reluctant to put it on a skip.

Looking to cheaply replace the circuit board using this identical spec relay

Looking at the board I am confused by the two red tracks. They seem to suggest a resistor but there has never been one. Is this required or what are these there for?


The circuit diagram I am working to is drawn below. Does anyone see any obvious problems before I go ahead and order? Many thanks in advance.

 

The 'resistor' isn't needed - I don't know why those tracks are there but they contribute nothing to the operation of the saw.

The charred PCB around that relay pin will need to be removed as it may well now be conductive and it has mains voltage on it.
This will likely leave a hole but that is fine. The other pins of the relay will hold it securely. You will need to complete the missing tracks by soldering pieces of wire to complete the connections. The wire should be big enough to carry the motor current.

You can get this type of relay plug in model with matching socket using wire terminals.

If those tracks round the charred bit of the board still have mains voltage they will need to be removed even if the relay is mounted off board.
