I've switched to a 15V/1A DC transformer. The original used a 9V/1.5A DC transformer.

I know that there are boost chips out there but I didn't know if there were high precision boost chips.

It turns out that it's easier to use a buck type configuration to attain a high precision signal.

I think Joyed999's point was that there was ample power in the system to do what I wanted, but a boosting configuration would be needed.
