My boss has asked me to build a circuit that will output 42vdc. I already have an adj. voltage regulator (TL783) that will adjust to that. My question is what value resistor, caps and trim pot could I use to build this circuit. Along with a CMOS Hex Buffer/Converter. NEED HELP

What kind of current do you need? Anything over about 1 ma would be a challenge for the CMOS IC.

42 volts is kind of odd. You can get DC - DC converters off the shelf that outputs 48 volts, so I guess the regulator could take that down to 42. Still have to handle the current. You can check MuRata's web site for their line of boost converters.
