Time to play a record after a bit of AV gear re-connection.

The Denon Audyssey DSP system is pretty good for a quick sound setup. Auto-EQ is great but it's not a substitute for room treatments. Electronic room correction is a "final touch"

I attended a “Sencore” training in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I was there to train on a video meter for our plasma TV’s as I remember, unsure if was LED to long ago like 15 years or so, anyway this audio method was an add on I chose to stay and learn about, we were purchasing agents for media broadcast, as “Techs” I was impressed with learning how sound moved in a room, so cool, sensitive microphones placed slightly in front of a listener located in the room, the Classic Room Nulls, knowing where to reinforce sound, creating the central location.

Seems it comes with the package now, keep having fun man, thx for the memories of times gone by, completely forgot about it until this post. lol

How come you don't have a tube amp if you're playing vinyl? :)
Because I like clean sound, not pre-distorted tube sound. I've worked on just about every possible tube application from early digital tube devices (KW-37) to RADAR and SATCOM.

500 mini tubes in that baby. Nuclear EAM launch messages were decoded using this device so it was designed to be very EMP resistant.

I still have a few devices at work with tubes for HV shunt regulators. Tube suck for linear amplification. Yes, I know you can use ultra-linear output transformers with beam power tubes for better audio but it still sucks when compared to even a poor modern solid-state amplifier.

My old, refreshed with new drivers, RS NOVA speakers will used in the room for the fronts and subs. The Left corner bottom and the two side speakers have been reconfigured as subs. The upper front corner has new crossovers, tweeters, mids and a new bass driver installed. The Denon DSP software is OK to set levels and distances but I don't like how it handles the base response using an old speaker as a test transducer. I'll use my old measurement system to tame that.

Upgrade the TV to a eARC compatible unit to integrate picture and sound with the receiver. AV apps on TV will pass unfiltered digital audio to the receiver for sound reproduction.

Finally received the room contents from storage. Time to re-calibrate the Denon with the actual fronts and subs.

Needs a bit of cleaning and wood oil on these RS classic enclosures. Using 'blue-tack' to hold the enclosures together without vibrations. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu_Tack A little ball(s) on the back of wall hanging frames or the bottom of items on shelves eliminates vibrations from bass.

The top Front speaker and four subs (in a series-parallel connection for 8 ohms total to the bridged LFE amp). None of the speakers have the original drivers or crossovers. The subs have been internally modified to seal the mid and tweeter driver ports for bass driver only duty.

Finally all rewired.

Rocking the room during liftoff.

Neat HDMI cable testing function in the Denon AVR-X3700H receiver. Had issues with running the kids PS5 at 4K 120Hz. Tracked it down to a HDMI cable.

AVR-X4700H testing cables.

Seating (the wife is still looking) riser and bass-shaker transducer platform rebuild. Need to trim the carpet edges with some sort of transition on the top.

Wired for four ohms per channel (2) hooked to this amp.

I've got plenty of bass in the room but this adds a physical component to action without excessive sound.

She Who Must Be Obeyed, didn't like the Lazy Susan record storage so it's going to the shop as bin parts storage. :(

Need a proper mount for the secondary video screen instead of a old computer work-station table.

So far the Denon receiver has been great. Using the Denon Android app on a old Nexus 7 table and phones has been nice.

Time to build the DLNA service for networked digital media for the house and HT. Added some raid 6 space (4 900GB drives) to the DL360 gen 8 server with surplus driver for more than a TB of extra space.

Configure the raid on Linux while the server is online.

Install minidlna. https://wiki.debian.org/minidlna

and find the server on the DENON receiver HELIOS and any smart TV or device with a DLNA/UPnP-AV client.

Dear manufacturers: please stop putting obnoxious blue LEDs on the front of my electronics. Sincerely, me.

Cheap two channel amp to drive some speakers from the pre-amp outputs from parts-express.com.
Electronics inside.

The magic of black electrical tape.

Parts-express.com is usually very good about parts but this time there was a slip-up on another item with that amp.

Doesn't look like 4 conductor speaker wire to me. :( It's nice wrap but I really needed that wire.

Love your kids! I asked my oldest son if he had an old windows computer for the media room. He said sure, look in the storage shed behind the house. OK, what did I find?

A new, in the box, Alienware Aurora from 2019. I had no idea it was there.

After about 2 hours of updates it was ready for application software installs after I turned off all the 'gamer' case lights.
