Today we'll be having an expected high of 40°C (104°F), with a "feel" of 48°C (118°F) when factoring sunlight and humidity ... I hate Monterrey's summers ... my favorite season is autumn ... definitely

Houston - January 1994 - 90˚F one day, Snow the next day, 88˚F day after, followed by freezing rain.

One summer day it had cooled off in the evening down to 70˚F. So I thought I'd open the doors and windows and let some fresh air in. GEEZ! It was like opening the door of a submarine. No sooner had I opened all the windows I was closing them again. Had to run the AC to get the humidity out. Our electric bill in summer was typically $1500 a month. That's not bad compared to what others were experiencing - - - heard stories of $3000 a month. No wonder why housing was so cheap in my area.

We've had a relative break from the heat. Should be in the 80's today and tomorrow. After that we're going back into the triple digits. However, being cooler has also come with considerably more humidity. Our relative humidity has typically been in the single digits to the teens; so when it goes up it feels worse than it really is. Though I don't remember how living in Houston felt (humidity so thick you could swim in it) having been dryer has made me more intolerant of even a little humidity.

We have a swamp cooler, which works great when humidity is low. But when it gets muggy the swamp cooler just doesn't do very much. My work shop has AC in it, so if it gets unbearable we can just sit in the shop and chill. Even sleep. Hammock.

Now you're just rubbing it in.
I know you're good but ...Are you telling me you can make it rain in your shop?

Sure, just turn on the sprinklers.

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) – Portland has a new all-time temperature record.

At 6 p.m., the official reading at Portland International Airport was 108 degrees. That breaks a record of 107, that was hit four different times before. That was in 1965, 1981 and previously on Saturday.
We should break that record with 110+ on Sunday

I made it rain in the kitchen for my kids. They LOVED my goofy experiments and science projects. Took a glass bowl, filled it with ice and cold water. Then put a thin layer of water in a pan and set it to boil. The steam rose and condensed on the glass bowl and dripped back into the pan. Rain in the kitchen.

Temperatures in automobiles can often be higher than the surrounding ambient temperature. Unless the car/truck is being driven and there's a flow of fresh air under the hood, the temperature sensor is likely going to report a higher temperature.

The car was parked in the shade. 113F was the actual ambient temperature.

So sitting here in Cleveland, Ohio where we may hit 90 F for the first time this year. Been nice days and I am OK with the heat and humidity. Maintaining 72 F in the house. I'll take the summer heat over the winter cold of NE Ohio which is a frozen mess during the winters. I figure it is what it is. My heart goes out to those of you living in drought areas or areas prone to forest fires. The Pacific Northwest is cooking lately.

We can sell you some water
And can we get Nestle's to stop taking our water and selling it to us (those of us still in CA (I'm not)). Water is diverted from the Colorado River and Nestle' is taking the lion's share of it for bottled water. Between them and the almond farmers - it's no wonder why CA is going thirsty. Or at least that's what I understand is the conditions.
