Looking like another "Near Miss" for us in Coastal Georgia this time... Our relatives down in Melbourne FL are without power.

"Only In Florida" takes on meaning.
LOL it was also a very popular winter sport for kids when I lived in Maine. Can't afford a Ski Resort Lift Ticket? Just fire up dad's pickup and tie a waterski line to the ball hitch and slalom ski down the backroads! To make it even more fun, put some of your empty beer cans on the road to slalom around! Even with the snow plows there was always a good base of snow on the roads.

Growing up LI NY it was "skitching" as we called it. Hide behind a snow bank and when a car stopped at a stop sign come out and hang on the bumper and slide along on the hard packed snow. :)

At the weather buoy ~30 miles east of me. And the eye is still wayyyyy south just a bit north of Daytona! Looking like we are going to get a big blow out of it!

This time, my friend, I have to humbly admit that it was my effort that captured both moments... Although my wife's been an excellent mentor and a source of inspiration, I must say... I'm one of those lucky few that married their muse... :)
Well alrighty. Yes, I would guess she is a great mentor since I have seen her work, the shot of the cat with such detail was incredible. Now, you enjoy Baja and the fishing as well as quiet. :)

I'm on vacation at Los Barriles, a small fishing village about 1-1/2 hrs from Los Cabos, in Baja ... beautiful morning with beautiful weather :)

Excellent capture of the "atmospheric refraction" (distortion at the bottom of the sun "disk").
The calculation of the exact sunset time accounts for this and makes a local sunset calculation seem much more complicated than a first approximation based on latitude, longitude and date. The correction fits a fourth-order polynomial near the horizon. For fun, my landscape lights are set via the noaa calculation - but clouds can significantly change ( + and -) the sky brightness at the exactly "calculated sunset time" - cloud type, altitude and position in the sky effect the brightness of the sky.
