How to wire these items that are on separate protoboards

So I have a nano mounted over headers on a green protoboard (on the underside, barely visible) and an L298N module board and Im getting ready to power it. The L298N is on standoffs over the green proto board and it looks like this.

1. The power wires are seen on the top left and would connect to the headers that I would weld to the top left.
2. I would run a Vcc trace to the right side where I would power the nano's 5V
3. I would run a GND trace to the right side for the nano and for the mosfet pin.
5. I would run a wire from Gate mosfet thru a R to the D5 pin on the nano.
4. These next 3 connections are new to me because they run from:
---Drain mosfet (protoboard) UP to the L298N module board
---D6 from the nano (protoboard) UP to the L298N IN1
---D7 from the nano (protoboard) UP to the L298N IN2

How do I make those connections, just hook wire soldering?

What is the MOSFET supposed to be doing?
It looks as though you have an Arduino pin connected by a diode to the MOSFET gate as the only connection to that gate. If that is so it will not work.

just hook wire soldering?
I assume this means using soldered wires. That would be one way.

If you want a less permanent connection, you could use wires with female headers on the other end that would mate with the male headers on the red board.
