How to fix a solar platform to a shaft?

I know its not exactly electronics but, Im trying to make a solar tracker of sorts. I have this acrylic plate (about 11" x 24"). I want to mount it on a shaft in order to have a motor rotate the shaft in a particular direction. My shaft at present is a 1/2" pvc pipe and I tried using 2 metal clamps around the pipe fixed onto the acrylic plate with nuts and bolts. The problem is that the clamps dont exactly hold onto the pipe strong enough. This has made me rethink what Im doing, there must be a better way:

PVC pipes are a great resource ... Where I live a 1/2" pipe fits inside a 3/4 " very tightly ... you can use a short length of 3/4 " to join 1/2" pipe perfectly with pvc cement ...

If you cut a 3/4" pipe along it's length this will open it up and you should be able to slide your 1/2" inside it . this will create an easy moving clamp ... tight elastic bands around the 3/4" will make contact firmer.

Thanks, I got it!

I was supposed it was so easy. Lining up of the holes and specially the putting of the screws into the 1/2" pvc and making them fall into the hole.
