Hello all,

I want to create a solder-mask keep-out area in Altium designer 22 as in the below image.

I tried using a polygon on both the top and bottom solder mask layers but I got this:

Is this how is supposed to look in 3D view?
Is the method I used the correct way to create solder-mask keep-outs?
Does this way of isolating part of PCB similar to cuts in terms of benefits?

Thanks,

Oh, got it! it's just a matter of core color.
The method I used is the correct way.
Still, need someone to tell if this method of isolation is better than cuts (slots) or not.

You did it the correct way.

Isolition is normally better with cuts, but also come with their own problems (e.g. PCB stability and mechanical strength).
So it depends on the project.

If you have the right cleareance and creepage distances both should work fine.
