The component in the picture (labeled 44A+055f) is connected to the anode and catode of the mid batteries in a 10 cell battery pack (each cell being 4500mAh). Can anyone identify what it is and why is there for?

My guess is that it is a thermal fuse which disconnects the battery if the temperature is too high.

 

Hi AlbertHall and thank you. I am assuming that the fuse is resettable so it goes back to leading current when temperature goes down again.
