There are two different sizes of center pin. One is 2.1 mm the other is 2.5 mm Both types of connector have the same outside diameter of 5.5 mm. You seem to have a 2.1 mm plug and a 2.5 mm socket. Here is a link to more information on this style of connector.

I consider the power connector soldered to and supported by those solder connections to be a very cheap and inferior arrangement. The reason is that bumpng and wiggling the plug leads to the connections of the soldered portions breaking. FAR more reliable is the incoming power connector that uses jam nuts to hold it in place., and wire leads for the connections to the PC board.
You would be wrong. Soldered correctly to the PCB, they are very strong (and industry standard). And for the record I have thousands of commercial devices in daily use, with said connections over a decade with zero failure.

On laptop and similar computers with a power plug out the back or side one or two bumps against that plug and the very small solder connections crack. The a BIT more use and suddenly there is no longer enough connection to charge the battery. THAT is the situation that I have seen. perhaps some styles of the power connector have an adequate steel strap to secure them to the PCB, those three computers did not. Thus my argument that an additional 50 cents pent in an $800 computer would be the difference between good quality and cheap junk.
Certainly the solder on connectors assemble much faster and go into the cases faster and last mmany weeks beyond the warranty, but for that money they should last a few years.
