Well it seemed funny when I typed it.

 

During the early 80s I worked briefly for Lear Siegler Power Equipment Division and among other things we built starter generators for turbine engines. They were much larger and heavier than the pictured unit. While I had little to do with them they were screamers in that they were high RPM and as I recall DC.

After Lucas Aerospace bought my division I ended up at a company called Argo Tech (an old former division of TRW) and among the products was aircraft fuel pumps which ran on 3 Phase 400 Hz power. Again, while they used the same design they were much larger, even the small ones for military contracts. I was never in pumps division but saw plenty and was involved with their testing and acceptance.

Anyway, both turbine starter generators and aircraft fuel pumps well exceeded this small motor's size and weight.
