The character (as opposed to the actress playing the character) is the exact type of know-it-all that gives women a bad name in the business world.

And the fact that the whole notion of peak oil is a bunch of crap isn't news.

I guess I am cranky today, huh?
Just curious, what is it about the female character, in particular, that marks her as a know-it-all and that is different than all of the other characters, that happened to be male? Had her character been played by a male, what that have been the type to give men a bad name in the business world (or would it not have raised an eyebrow because we don't pay attention when men are that way)?

I'm not being snarky, I'm truly interested in your thoughts on this.

Fortunately around here the present drop in production has been being taken advantage of to do more infrastructure related construction and improvements.

It would appear that the people in the know, not the media, seem to be feeling pretty confident that things will be returning to normal sometime fairly soon.

RIght now major road work is being done, housing and related infrastructure is going on as nothing changed and the oil and gas related pipeline work plus other related systems construction is going on as fast as they can.
I haven't been out on the oil fields for a few months now but when ever I go to town I still see loads of huge pipeline tubing and related components coming in by the truck and rail car loads.

For me I will go back to work when they call but to be honest I am really hoping they don't call until around October or November. I have too much of my own personal infrastructure work to do at home. :p

I'm married now so all I ever seem to do is dig holes. :(

They are resurfacing the main highway we use so we have to take the back roads to town otherwise we can get stuck waiting for over 30 minutes just to go seven miles. Somehow that's my fault now for living here. Before they started the resurfacing work it was also my fault the road was worn out and beat up too.

I got her a 100# gold bar for her birthday but she didn't like it because it was too shiny and too heavy so I sent it back.

Sorta explains why there is not much interest in pipe laying huh.:p

In 2012 before the election, President Obama gave a speech bashing Republican calls for more drilling.

“Last week, the lead of one news story said, ‘Gasoline prices are on the rise, and Republicans are licking their chops'. Only in politics do people greet bad news so enthusiastically.”

“And you can bet that since it’s an election year, they’re already dusting off their three-point plans for $2 gas,” Obama continued. “I’ll save you the suspense: Step one is drill, step two is drill, and step three is keep drilling. We heard the same thing in 2007, when I was running for president. We hear the same thing every year. We’ve heard the same thing for 30 years.”

“Well the American people aren’t stupid,” Obama said in a speech in Miami. “You know that’s not a plan — especially since we’re already drilling. … You know there are no quick fixes to this problem, and you know we can’t just drill our way to lower gas prices.”

Drill baby, drill!

I guess the American people are stupid. Regardless of such sage advice, they went ahead and drilled anyway...

At first I assumed that you were linking to an article that was a few months old because I saw that exact same graphic back then. But I realized that it was a different article that, at first, appeared to be making the same points as the one I read. But eventually the two diverged quite a bit and it was good to read both (which I could remember where I came across the other one).

This thread is as much fun as when you began working in the oil fields and posted pictures. :)

Really, I also appreciate the shared onsite information. Interesting stuff.

Ah the thread the keeps on giving!

I rather miss those days now. :(

Granted I love having the summer off of course but for me the big machinery and all around oil field atmosphere just was fun for me to be in.

On the subject of fracking, the Oklahoma City area is now worse than the San Francisco Bay Area in earthquakes.

Just compare the number and magnitude between the two areas and it's obvious the Oklahoma region is now seismically hyperactive.

Interesting coincidence, Central Oklahoma has a lot of fracking operations too, but the risk is getting out of hand.

Since the thread is running again heres a bit of an update on the local goings on.

Still building houses and stores like crazy and the state is tearing up and rebuilding roads like never before.
Huge truck and train loads of oil pipelines and equipment are still coming in every day as well.:cool:

On a personal note I get a bit nervous everytime the phone rings or I see there's a new message on my answering machine thinking it may be work calling me to come back. :p

Really thinking I might need another year or two off to get all my own work done before I go back to work. :D

Wife and daughter just flew off to Turkey for three weeks so I have the house to myself again. Wow its so peaceful and quiet here for once. :)
