Energy in camping- ideas

I always thought a vacation was to "Get away from it all." From it ALL.

Admittedly, I take the laptop when I vacation. But I do so to upload photographs I've taken while on vacation. My wife may check her e-mail but that's it. Sometimes we rent a low budget room that has a TV but doesn't offer the programming we like to watch. So we MIGHT watch a show before going to bed. Forget about Facebook and Twitter and Snapchat and whatever else there may be in the form of social media. When we vacation it's to get away from all the people who fug the buck out of us. Work, neighbors, their dogs. Name it - we want to get away from it all.

Almost forgot, one more reason for having the LT is to look up on Google Maps the directions to the next vacation spot. It helps to know where you're going before you go there. And if we plan it all out before we leave, I don't think I can remember all those directions reliably. But that's it. Upload photos, TV ( SOMETIMES ) and maps. But that's for "Vacations". As for camping, to me the idea of camping is a tent, sleeping bag and a camp fire.

Definitely, for all the reasons you mentioned. But camping is a very different thing than lounging in s hotel. I only camp places I couldn't possibly stay otherwise. If you are camping just to avoid paying for a room, I suppose having a laptop could be handy. Many 'civilized' campsites have electricity and water.

Leave the laptop at home and enjoy nature. I just don't understand why people can't step away from technology even for a brief period.

I snapped this on a bicycle tour of the Oregon coast.

This was the view. I could look at this view all day long and not once want to look at television or a computer.
