I don't know, 40 pages and 780+ posts and still no end in site. :) With most of it stuff that should have been handled in PM's or Email. But what does an old crotchety man know, hey you kids, get off my grass.

@shortbus I don't know where all that's coming from especially now that we're really buckling down on the tutorials and supplements:(! If it has anything to do with the substantive portion of JC's latest post and HP's response to it plz remember that radiometric equipment is always on topic for HV experimenters cuz it's almost impossible not to produce some xrays no matter what you do at potentials above 50kv! So even ppl with no interest in generating xrays need to keep tabs on radiological conditions during experiments and scintillometer is a very good monitor of x/ϒ radiation with PEs from less than 10kev to more than 5 Mev which is totally better than GM counter for electromagnetic radiation:)!

Shortbus if it was political talk that pi$$ed you off plz be happy cuz in exactly two weeks either Tweedle Dee or Tweedle Dum will be elected and we can all suffer in silence for another four years:rolleyes::D!

Last question first; political talk is not a problem, love talking about that.

And JC is not the/a problem. I understand this is your thread and you own it. Probably shouldn't have made my comment because of that fact. But if you guy's(girl's?) can honestly say all your back and forth has been related to the topic of the thread and getting it done, then I'm really sorry for speaking up. All the talk about your internet server, who is or isn't doing their part, who is or isn't posting/watching the forum that you may know, etc, etc. Don't you think that stuff should have been handled privately? Do you think someone that is new to the forum and needs the information your talking about is going to read through 40 pages of that to glean the information? Like I said just ignore the crotchety old man. :)

Hi, Shortbus!

First off

I understand this is your thread and you own it. Probably shouldn't have made my comment because of that
Speaking for all of us (i.e. Aleph, JC and myself) we hope that you (and, indeed, all genuinely interested parties) will continue to offer your suggestions, comments and concerns!:) -- Nor do we 'hide behind' the (dubious) 'sanctity' of 'thread ownership':cool:

As to the rest - I'll let @Aleph(0) & @Jazz2C speak for themselves:cool: -- FWIW, here are my views on your concerns

But if you guy's(girl's?) can honestly say all your back and forth has been related to the topic of the thread
Of course I can't say that:oops: - Howbeit I feel our off-topic digressions are currently at an all-time low?:confused::cool:

Don't you think that stuff should have been handled privately? Do you think someone that is new to the forum and needs the information your talking about is going to read through 40 pages of that to glean the information?
For my part - I don't expect anyone to 'wade' through this thread!:eek::oops: -- On the contrary! Our objective is to provide some semblance of much needed coherence and, indeed, sanity to web-based EHT resources -- at both the technical and design levels... All of which is to say this thread is merely a 'development room' as it were - and, as such, tends to be rather 'messy' -- When published to on-topic fora (i.e. 'Projects', 'Power Electronics' or wherever site management deems appropriate) the articles will be pristine!:)

@shortbus In deference to your concern, I request that @Aleph(0) amends her OP such that it directs readers to the current final draft of the tutorial (@Aleph(0) - please disclaim the 'in progress' nature of the draft)

Very best regards
HP:)

I understand that, but it's because the thread has dwindled down to almost no posting. :)
Aye! But then it's a case of cause vs. effect - To wit: less 'chaff' = fewer posts:) --- Seriously - since failing to meet our August deadline (the latest of several:oops:) we've been hard at it! Please don't mistake our reduced fora presence with lackadaisicality!:cool:

Best regards
HP:)

@Hypatia's Protege and @shortbus

So I think progress on composition of tutorial has lost it's way cuz we keep adding more to do! So let's just finish the tutorial and cross the _addenda bridge_ afterwards! HP I say only the abbreviation expansions are immediately necessary so I'm going to ask on feedback and suggestion forum abt linking individual records within blog posts! If it can't be done then I say just link abbreviations to sorted table and move on with it:)!

if you guy's(girl's?)
Shortbus Officially for the record HP and I are girls and JC is a guy! So be happy! The silly burden of inclusive speech has flown:cool:!

Please be advised that the addendum requires addition of Beckman and Barnhill curettes -- pre-incorporation! --- Additionally, I strongly suggest designation of (laparoscopic) bipolar 'graspers' as highly recommended equipment inasmuch as, quite despite JC's 'bright ideas', such are hardly substitutable with 'clawed retrieval tools':rolleyes:
HP plz post pics of those instruments cuz I can't narrow search results enough with just googling:oops:!

Also why is claw pick up tool inferior? Plz be sure HP cuz they're a lot cheaper and we decided not to intimidate cost conscience readers:)!

I dunno...?:confused: - It would seem that and the glossary are 'handmaidens' as it were...

Agreed! Long term maintainability demands restriction of hosting resources to those provided through AAC (EETech) -- It has been my experience that very little is more offputting than 'broken' links!

HP plz post pics of those instruments cuz I can't narrow search results enough with just googling:oops:!
No problems! - I'll 'up' them within 24 Hours:)

Also why is claw pick up tool inferior?
Because a picture is worth (so much more) than 1,000 words - I'll answer that 'photographically' with my response to the above:D

All the best

HP that's cool! Whenever you get a chance:)!

HP I know you don't like politics here but I have to say how much I'm totally enjoying the corralling of The Hildabeast:D! Now I know The Donald probably isn't any better but IF and I say IF he's _dirty_ at least he's not as arrogant as Hillary who rejoices in her criminality with assumption that complicit establishment and press will just rationalize her actions! So I want to think this means there's still justice and sanity in America but I know that even if all this sounds death knell of her political career she still won't spent 1ns behind the wall no matter what:mad:! And since the slimy are good at slipping I won't be totally surprised if she still winds up cooling her heals in the oval office:mad::(! Anyhow I intend to enjoy it while it lasts:)!

If this goes well then I say against backdrop of Brexit it can mean the long coup of collectivist fascists is finally disintegrating which could positively effect next elections here too:)!

HP I know your political beliefs totally parallel mine but I also know how you feel abt political talk on thread so this one time only I'm pulling rank as TS:cool:! So there:p!

Ah! But for a return to the idealism and infinite optimism of youth!:D

she still won't spent 1ns behind the wall no matter what:mad:
As I understand it Nixon 'skated' Re: Watergate (courtesy of his unindicted co-conspiritor G. Ford) -- Ditto for Agnew (Re: Tax fraud?):rolleyes: -- IOW - Agreed!:rolleyes:

Now I know The Donald probably isn't any better but IF and I say IF he's _dirty_ at least he's not as arrogant as Hillary who rejoices in her criminality with assumption that complicit establishment and press will just rationalize her actions!
While I agree - I daresay such is hardly the point - everyone knows HRC is 'dirty' whereas Trump is merely 'as may be' --- Moreover, if (as seems increasingly likely) the accusations against Trump are part of a 'smear campaign', the Clinton camp is doubly offensive for its furtherance of the stereotype that women are as children comprising a cowardly 'victim class' bereft of the fortitude and righteous indignation to report mistreatment in a timely fashion sans 'support' from others! Sloth and cowardice are endemic to every demographic! - We (i.e. women) have no corner on that 'market'! - I am soooo weary of hearing how others are, unbeknownst to me, 'challenging my sense of self worth':confused::rolleyes: - Such is the reality in neither my life nor the lives of any with whom I'm acquainted! What part of competent adults does the radical left fail to understand?:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: --- Inasmuch as it is Hillary doing the prejudging - it is she who is guilty of unabashed sexism!

And since the slimy are good at slipping I won't be totally surprised if she still winds up cooling her heals in the oval office:mad::(!
Nor will I:rolleyes::(

so this one time only I'm pulling rank as TS:cool:! So there:p!
What it must be to have such power!:eek::eek::eek::D

Here ya go!:) --- (Post continued below images)

Assortment of Beckman (square fenestra) and Barnhill (rectangular fenestra) curettes:

If you will be linking these in the addendum please advise me that I may 'up' them to my blog

I couldn't properly focus on a #42 AWG conductor howbeit I feel #38 illustrates my point...

I rest my case!:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

But hey! Don't let me stand in your way! If shoddy, difficult to assemble projects are your aim -- be advised that Harbor Freight, Walmart (and their ignoble ilk) offer hundreds of thousands of square feet of implements and materials sure to fulfill even your wildest dreams!:rolleyes:

All the best

Ok I've uploaded the images - Note, however, that I've left the descriptive text in abeyance inasmuch as same will be presented in the addendum...

Re: Linking of discrete 'elements' --- Based upon the dearth of affirmative response from the support forum in this regard, it seems reasonable to assume said scheme is either impossible or impractical -- So...

Having lent a good deal of thought to the matter I have arrived at the following conclusions:

1)
Owing to 'encumbrance' and liability to (perceived) condescension - expansion of abbreviations in the text of the tutorials is unacceptable!

2) Point #1 (above) notwithstanding - many abbreviations must be expanded.

3) Merely linking the reader to a 'list' (as opposed to the relevant expansion) is (arguably) all of annoying, clumsy and highly distracting!

So... I have taken the decision to create a distinct blog entry for each and every 'expansion'. Despite the (mercifully reader-transparent) 'awkwardness' of said scheme - it is workable in that said 'block' of entries need be neither sorted nor contiguous -- that said, I plan to create several 'reserved' entries for 'tidiness sake'...

The glossary, on the other hand, will be maintained as a single blog-entry, structured as an alphanumerically sorted list including (but not limited to) abbreviations, expansions and, where deemed appropriate, additional (instructional) material...

Best regards
HP:)
