Hi , my inverter pulls around 2A peak current for a very short period of time but it is given in datasheet the Id,maxpeak = 500mA
I know in higher frequencies it will fail but would it work or should I go for changes in desing ?

This is a common problem in CMOS. You have the RDSon of both FETs in series across the power supply.
What is the power supply voltage?
You need to have fast rise and fall times of the input signal.

The supply range is not constant like 1.8 3.3. I do plan to make it working around -+5 to -+10
I also think of this kind of design but this one has considerably low V_OH
