now my job is to develop an algorithm for bat call species identification. Does anybody know if I have to write the species with the features in a seperate database like SQR or in the matlab ?does anybody have any experince for the bat call identification please?

As I'm sure you're already discovering, there's quite difference between the frequency division/ heterodyne detectors, and the full scientific work being done with time expansion detectors.
Unfortunately, there's also a dramatic difference in the cost of equipment as well!!

Rogs, I need the bat calls in wav format to save. the website you mentiones does not offered them .
In addition, I have no problem with equipment as I give up the idea to build my own and I 'm going to buy a full spectrum bat detector . the problem now is how I find the bat calls in wav format (including Indiana bat call) and how use this database. I mean I write them in the sql or matlab ?

after a long time finally I got my softwares from Binary acoustic technology (Spect'R and Scan'R) and also sonobat. I have a problem using the sonograms. I downloaded several bat calls in .wave format from different resources. However, I don't know why some of the calls are shown as the sonogram in Scan'R and some of the are not( or sometimes with a strange shape)? does anbody have works with Scan'R before ?
as the second question, since I'm an electrical enginner and not an ecologist , I can not understand exactly what does the bat call's sonograms mean . because there are differenet curves in the songrams and some time several over each other in vertical axes, can anybody direct me exactly which of the curves I have to make attention to extract the features?and what is the difference between the curves in the sonograms? are they for a sequence or just one click?
