older gear is, IMHO, better when doing analog work on most things

Nice Tek scopes. You can't beat the clean traces of an analog scope. My daily use scope is a 7704A, currently with a 7D20 70MHz DSO plug-in.

There will be a serious challenge in using an LM723 regulator in a 450 volt circuit. Check the data sheet for the specifications and voltage limits of the 723 device.

For the "Linear Amplifier" you need to tell us the intended output power and the desired frequency range to be amplified. It would also be useful to know the intended amplifier input power level.

D1 is a 10W zener diode and 2N3234 is good for 160V. but getting to 450V will require some tweaks. for example replacing D1 and R5 with small dedicated supply. R6 would need to be adjusted to some 16 Ohm to have current limited to 0.25A. transistor will need to handle high voltage and power dissipation since linear regulator.

 

250mA with a 400V drop is 100W of dissipation, so the transistor(s) will need to be on a large heat-sink, likely with fan cooling.
