Discharging capacitors in Power Supply

Hello,

I want to replace the caps on a power supply. The mains are 240V. I want to use a 5 Watt 20 kOhm resistor across the terminals of each capacitor on the pcb.
I will use alligator clips to connect the terminals of the resistor to the terminals of the Capacitors. But here is my doubt. The capacitors leads are very short and I don't know how can I safely attach the alligator clips to them.
Has anyone have an idea of how to connect the resistor to the capacitors leads before de-soldering them ?

Thanks,
Regards

Why? If you are just trying to discharge them, short the two leads with a screwdriver. Make sure the handle is insulating.

If I do it with a screw driver, won't the discharge be too quick causing sparks or even an explosion ?
