cyclo converter for small motors

Dear all, I always thinking building motor control. and now i have two choices one is using igbts and the other is using thyristor for cyclo converter
for me cyclo converter is simple but in most literature cyclo coverter is used for very big motors my plan is controlling induction motor single/three with 500 to 7kw motor

so what do you think?
