Could this generator with no moving parts be legit?

There have been plenty of scams about power generation on the internet, but Lasersaber has had his crystal battery powering a motor for 3 months on a live feed cam. Could this be legit also? Creator (Quanta Magnetics) is not releasing any details. He's currently testing a Black Box which uses this generator to recharge lithium batteries overnight and tops them off.

Ah, I am new to this. I didn't know what qualifies as over unity. It does sound fishy though.

It looks like a variation on thermoelectric electrical power generation to me. Same concept of how a common thermoelectric junction works but instead of providing a low voltage with a moderate current it provides a moderate voltage with a low current.

As his one video demonstrates when he charges a 2200 uf capacitor it take it over a minute to bring it up to ~ 4 volts which basic RC time constant calculations says his 4 volt power source is only good for about .15 ma at best.

Which if that was used to charge a common 2200mAh rechargeable battery cell it would take some ~25,000 hours (about 3 years to do it. ) making it a totally impractical recharging power source for most common small battery applications.

To be honest most basic Peltier junction coolers if painted flat black (taking advantage of black body absorption/radiation thermal energy transfer effects from localized radiant thermal sources) and tied to a good micro power energy harvester circuit (really good joule thief ) can do far better. (especially if it was placed in a sunny window or just held in your hand.)

I went and looked at the link and it gives nothing at all of any substance. Seems like pure snake-oil prattle to me. It was interesting that he talked about how fast his "generator" charged a 2200 uF cap. But after a minute it wasn't even to 90% of final value, so the internal resistance of his "generator" is in the range of 10 kohms. So he could produce, into a dead short, something on the order of half a milliamp. The batteries he was using were 2650 mAh batteries, so it would take over 5000 hours (about seven months) to charge one of them. Pure snake oil. My guess is that his "generator" is nothing more than a coin cell and a resistor sitting on top of a square block of wood with a couple of magnets with some shrinkwrap around it.

Also note how the meter leads are not in-frame. There is nothing that ensures that the meter is even hooked up to his "generator" at all. It would take very little practice to fake the measurements entirely.

A bit like the "Johnson motor" never did find out if that really worked, I have all the plans, but never got round to building one to see if it was genuine or B.S

Mention was made of power cells and there was something called a silicone graphite cell.
???
I was a chemistry major in another long ago lifetime and those elements are rather unlikely candidates for battery use.
They are both middle of the periodic table donor/borrowers.
Silicon and Carbon?
Might as well be rainbow lasers and unicorn farts.
More power per ersatz gallon than any other fantasy fuel ever distilled.

Ok. Google dived into this and came up with a new fact.
Silicone embedded graphite sheets, like the ones used in lithium batteries can be used to increase the power density of the battery anode. Silicon atoms can capture 4 lithium atoms, but carbon can only capture one.
Batteries using the new material are in testing now.
They also charge much faster.

So it's a 4 V battery, not rechargeable, high internal resistance?

That's small thinking. What is the value created, if it were real? How should the total value created be apportioned to the inventor and the customer, maybe 80/20?

I enjoy watching the silly videos and all the other creative stuff on the internet but I always walk away with one question: Why? Why would someone take the time, effort and cost to produce these works? This free energy one was easy enough to make and kind of a hoot but there are some creative works out there that must have taken hours and hours and high skill levels. Hardly anyone can monetize that work, right?
