I feel that our social paradigm will have to shift and may forever change the way we interact, if not the viral plague in the future will wipe us all out.

Just yesterday someone high five me for some work I did, suddenly I realized what had happened, afterward I didn’t wash my hands because I wanted to go home, I did however wash my hands by incident only because I have OCD’S when I got home, I never touch my face with my palm, always the back of my hand, I use a tissue when itching my nose or such.

I’m such a Germaphobe, but can you blame me?

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — MGM Resorts International says they will be temporarily closing their buffets at ARIA, Bellagio, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, The Mirage, Luxor and Excalibur amid coronavirus concerns.
Interesting. The casino just up the road was formerly a Rocksino owned by Hard Rock. Hard Rock sold it to MGM. My wife and I would go there for the buffet which is real good and about a few times a month seniors get a two for one so we could enjoy a nice lunch for about $15. This morning I got an email from MGM

No mention of closing the buffet. Not here anyway. Number of schools closing Friday for sanitizing and Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden cancelled a few appearances here yesterday. The only 3 cases just reported here in Ohio are here Cuyahogs County (Cleveland).

Can't say I blame them.

"I feel like if the coronavirus would get even more serious and like wipe out a large amount of people, I might as well be somewhere having fun," Henkel told NBC News in a message.

Coronavirus got Boomers stocking their doomsday bunkers... meanwhile millennials are online shopping for bathing suits for the five island trip they just booked on Spirit for $130.

Well, it's spring break and the Unis are closing for the pandemic. Besides they need to keep the economy going so we won't have to bail the Airlines out when they go belly up. Not to mention they have high immunity compared to us old farts. Just don't bring it home to mommy and daddy after you spend all their money.

South Korea has seen a steady decrease in new coronavirus cases for four consecutive days, despite being one of the worst-affected countries outside China, although global attention has shifted towards outbreaks in Italy and Iran.
As of end-Monday, it had 7,513 cases and 54 deaths. The Korea Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) said there was an increase of 131 cases from Sunday to Monday.
The country averaged more than 500 new infections a day for the past two weeks, but last Friday, this number dipped to 438, then 367 on Saturday and 248 on Sunday. The daily number of confirmed cases is reported the following day.

Just got word that one of the schools I teach at is requiring us to deliver classes online the first two weeks after Spring Break. I don't know how carefully that was thought through in terms of the logistics of being in a position to actually do so and the resources that will be needed (and the competition for them in some cases). So I don't expect this to go too smoothly, but we'll deal with it somehow. One benefit of doing this is that it goes a long way to minimizing the potential for the students to spread out to the four winds and then come back together after break and start infecting each other. Their first two weeks back will be with limited social interaction and so they can get sick and deal with it before they come back together en mass; I don't know if that was part of the thinking or not, I suspect it wasn't because they haven't mentioned anything about it and I think they probably would have, if only to better justify the headaches it's going to cause.

Email from my GP...

"Hello, this is Dr. Miller calling by recording with an update on the coronavirus, also called COVID19. Locally, there have been confirmed cases reported. We remain watchful and proactive to prevent the spread of this virus.
For the protection of all members, our practice will be following procedures recommended by the Centers for Disease Control. If you are exhibiting symptoms, such as a fever or cough, or if you believe you may have been exposed to the virus, first CALL the office. If you need to be seen, we’ll ask you to contact us from the parking lot for further instructions.
Out of extreme precaution, we CANNOT accept walk-in visits or allow symptomatic patients in the waiting room at this time.As directed by the CDC, I will wear personal protective equipment when appropriate. Quest or LabCorp will process a swab test, if it’s necessary.
While most Americans are still at low risk for contracting coronavirus, protect your health by vigorous hand washing for at least 20 seconds with soap and water, using hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol, and avoiding crowds or gatherings. Those with underlying conditions can be more susceptible to infection, so share this information with family and friends.Stay informed by visiting the MDVIP resource center that’s updated regularly at mdvip.com/coronavirus.As always, we are here for you."

Thanks for the smile. Sometimes you have to wonder just what administrators are thing when they come up with stuff, especially when it involves someone else delivering the end product. Seeing all sorts of school things changing and most around spring break. My daughter was planning on taking the granddaughter to Florida for spring break and I have no clue how that will play out. Her in-laws have a condo down there. It seems everything is totally disrupted. Glad I am retired and just watching the passing parade.

Zoom is your friend. That's where I'm headed.

Edit: BTW, they have lifted the restriction of a max of 40 minutes for meetings with a Basic (free) account for K-12 education. See their "Education" page.
