Can I just inject a little on the care home point,My little town went from basically no cases to a large outbreak in long term care facility (8 staff and 18 residents). I have a lot of questions that will never be answered about that outbreak. As a hospital worker we are required to wear masks everywhere at all times so how did this happen?
In Canada these long term care outbreaks continue and nothing is being done to minimize them. No one even tries to out in place any measures other than what already exists and that clearly does not work.
Personally I still have not been affected by it.
It did make me remember when my high school had an outbreak of mumps. My class was affected eventually. We were in isolation. We had to come in 30 min earlier and leave 30 min later than everyone else. We were stuck in same classroom for 9 hrs and counted who was no show everyday. Just waiting to get sick. I was about 9th in line to get ill with it. This was in grade 8 and we were vaccinated.
The care home "nurses" at the home I know are not being issued the FFP3 masks , nor full face covering,
apparently the elderly patients can not understand the muffled voice through a proper mask and shield.
As such they have just the standard surgical masks,
As we all know , these are intended only to stop aerosol droplets being expelled,
they do not form a barrier for breathing in to CV19 as its to small, and leek at the sides,
Result, in the health care environment, the staff are having to work near to the patients so they can hear,
no social distancing,
and no protection of the eyes where we also know droplets can get into the blood system,..
And once one elderly / disabled person gets it, if they have no symptoms, its going to spread, again in the home I know of, all the residents are exempt wearing masks due to breathing difficulties.
These health care workers are putting there life on the line with lack of PPE and IMHO its a crime
