For the other side of that coin look at Israel.Science says schools can re-open. Look at Sweden. The problem is providing adequate protection for elderly teachers. However, the ones complaining the most are not in that group, at least according to my one source who is in the DC area.

Sure, the localized numbers might be on a up-tick like in Hawaii, a state that's been in almost total isolation for monthsUnless you live in Iowa - https://usafacts.org/visualizations/coronavirus-covid-19-spread-map/state/iowa
Yea, lessons learned the hard way. NY state is reopening schools because the science says we can with proper precautions. For the other side of that coin look at Israel.

NY state is reopening schools. The lesson, experts say, is that even communities that have gotten the spread of the virus under control need to take strict precautions when reopening schools. Smaller classes, mask wearing, keeping desks six feet apart and providing adequate ventilation, they say, are likely to be crucial until a vaccine is available.
“If there is a low number of cases, there is an illusion that the disease is over,” said Dr. Hagai Levine, a professor of epidemiology at Hebrew University-Hadassah School of Public Health. “But it’s a complete illusion.”
“The mistake in Israel,” he said, “is that you can open the education system, but you have to do it gradually, with certain limits, and you have to do it in a very careful way.”
http://www.nysed.gov/reopening-schoolsOn a conference call with reporters Friday morning, Gov. Andrew Cuomo gave another update on New York's reopening.
During the update, Cuomo has mentioned that his office received calls from parents and teachers who were not satisfied with the reopening plans and the discussions happening with school districts.
"School districts want to manipulate conversations. School districts want to stonewall conversations. It's gonna show up the first day. That school is supposed to open because the parents won't send their kids, and the teachers won't show up," Cuomo said.
Governor Cuomo went on to say that it's important that the dialogues among districts, parents and teachers are just that in order for communities to safely move forward with reopening schools.
Yea, they really screwed the math on that one.Big problems at FDA concerning the over hype of convalescent plasma. https://www.usnews.com/news/nationa...y-miller-ousted-following-blood-plasma-fumble
https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/PLAW-108publ276/pdf/PLAW-108publ276.pdfHahn said during the press conference that data from the Mayo Clinic showed that the use of convalescent plasma reduced the risk of death by 35%. He said that means that if 100 people got the virus, the treatment would save 35 of them.
He later walked that statement back.
"I have been criticized for remarks I made Sunday night about the benefits of convalescent plasma," Hahn tweeted. "The criticism is entirely justified. What I should have said better is that the data show a relative risk reduction not an absolute risk reduction."
Public Law 108–276 108th Congress An Act To amend the Public Health Service Act to provide protections and countermeasures against chemical, radiological, or nuclear agents that may be used in a terrorist attack against the United States by giving the National Institutes of Health contracting flexibility, infrastructure improvements, and expediting the scientific peer review process, and streamlining the Food and Drug Administration approval process of countermeasures. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE. This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Project BioShield Act of 2004’’.
Look who's back in school in Sweden.Actually, reaction in the US was largely appropriate or overdone based on the information at hand. Unfortunately, some governors chose to abuse the CARES act and monetize inflated positivity rates. Others, including some of the above, chose to return infected elderly patients to nursing homes, which resulted in deadly infections to the most at risk age group. Mid-pandemic, the death rate in NY nursing homes exceeded the death rate in the entire state of Florida -- a state known for having a disproportionate elderly population..
Sweden used "common sense," and we have yet to get the final numbers for excess deaths by age group in Sweden versus the US. If those numbers ever become available, I suspect there will be very little difference, but that time is at least 6 months from now.
The planet has been saved by lockdowns. Humans will die off from depression by 2022That's great news. Now we can get back to worrying about the extinction of all humans by 2030, or has that been pushed back to 2031 by the coronavirus gap year?
2022? I thought that date for almost half of them was [date removed by moderator as being provocatively political]??The planet has been saved by lockdowns. Humans will die off from depression by 2022
I wonder what the future holds for her. She's established a very specific expectation of herself by the whole world. "Pot committed" is the poker term. If she decides she just wants to be a normal girl and go to college, the world won't shrug it off like they do for a "1 hit wonder" young musician or actress. Imagine having the disappointment of the world on your shoulders.

If I remember correctly, she's bipolar ... so she haves a very challenging road ahead of her, whatever path she uses to take.I wonder what the future holds for her. Children can carry coronavirus in their noses for up to three weeks, according to a study from South Korea.
No, she is autistic. Which means she is incapable of playing nice with others due to her socially handicapped disposition due to her disability and that she also becomes fixated on ideation which means she doesn't know when to stop.If I remember correctly, she's bipolar
Right... autistic in the Asperger spectrum...No, she is autistic. Which means she is incapable of playing nice with others due to her socially handicapped disposition due to her disability and that she also becomes fixated on ideation which means she doesn't know when to stop.
This "difference" from other children is the reason for her cause celebre and brought her to the notice of the press for her seemingly dogged determination which is manifested by her disability. The press seemingly misinterprets her autistic behavior as being some kind of modern Joan of Arc martyrdom. In reality, the press should be ashamed of taking advantage of the poor child.
She looks a lot more in control being back to school in a regular routine. The PCR test amplifies genetic matter from the virus in cycles; the fewer cycles required, the greater the amount of virus, or viral load, in the sample. The greater the viral load, the more likely the patient is to be contagious.
This number of amplification cycles needed to find the virus, called the cycle threshold, is never included in the results sent to doctors and coronavirus patients, although it could tell them how infectious the patients are.
In three sets of testing data that include cycle thresholds, compiled by officials in Massachusetts, New York and Nevada, up to 90 percent of people testing positive carried barely any virus, a review by The Times found.
On Thursday, the United States recorded 45,604 new coronavirus cases, according to a database maintained by The Times. If the rates of contagiousness in Massachusetts and New York were to apply nationwide, then perhaps only 4,500 of those people may actually need to isolate and submit to contact tracing.

I hope she grows up to lead a normal life, of normal activism, after a normal education, that might enlighten her instead being known as the indoctrinated cult child being manipulated by adults.
Once the pandemic hit the 'fund raisers' dumped her like a used rag when her money making world tour turned into a clown show.
