Connector selection

Hi everyone. First time post here as I've been trying to find a active electronics community.

A project I'm prototyping at the moment needs some robust multi pin connectors, at least 8 pin, a 16 pin option would be nice. Now I've been using GX16 circular connectors which is fine for me, but ultimately I want to make this an easy build for novices, and they can be fiddly to solder for newbies.

- connector needs to be panel mount
- robust enough to cope with the odd knock
- easy for novices to assemble (maybe crimp type?)
- max required voltage is 12v, max current per pin 3a (no more than 6a flowing in any one connector)

I'd welcome any suggestions! Thanks.

What's wrong with the good old D-sub connectors? 9, 15, & 25 pin, 3A per pin @ 80degC ambient & 5A @ 25C for good quality versions, crimp or solder bucket, robust enough for military use, panel & cable mount. Relatively cheap.

Or GX25.. like GX16 but bigger..

The statement included "durable", and while "D"style connectors are not wimpy, MS threaded and bayonet style are much more durable. MS qualified durable for may of them.in fact.
"D" connectors come in both solder cup and crimp styles, and certainly the crip variety must be done correctly or they tend to come apart, with the wires pulling out.
In addition, crimp connectors are seldom re-usable.
