Recently i have decided to build a machine which will determine colors.
For example i'll put in front the sensor a red circle and it will realize it's a red color.
My question is where can i find good resources to start designing my project, and searching for materials to start building.
I'll need to learn about the color and the electronic parts working with it.
If you can provide me this information or give me a directions it will be awesome.

 

I suggest you google "color sensor IC" as a start.

Yes sir, i'm aware. I wanted to take it as a project and do it myself

 

For a down-to-basics approach you could spin a RGB colour-filter wheel in front of a single photocell and compare the cell outputs for the three colour filters.

 

A simpler way is to use red, green, and blue LEDs to illuminate the object, one colour at a time. Then you do not need coloured filters at the sensor.
