Close circuit when reaches certain voltage and open another one

Hey guys,

I'm building an electric skateboard and I just installed a transformer between the batteries and the motor.
Though, the transformer block the circuit by making it going into one way only (output cannot produce power to input)
Therefore the braking regenerative system no longer works.

But I realize that the voltage goes up to 45-46V when I'm breaking (independently of the input voltage). So what would be the easiest way to detect when the voltage goes to 45V, deactivate the circuit coming to the transformer and activate one that goes directly to the batteries?

I know an arduino can do the job but I am thinking on a easier solution

thanks
