This came up a few days ago in my feed. I remember seeing it as a kit but forgot about it. I though it might be interesting to take a shot at it.
Question ... what transistor would you use?

It says CK722 .... rare ... Very Expensive

I did a quick search and a replacement would be 2N107 ... also rare and Very Expensive

I did more searching and got a lot of "might be equiv".

I don't have a transistor replacement book
.
What is a modern (cheap) equivalent to this transistor?

Thanks!

It's a germanium RF transistor. Try GT308, unless the guitarists have bought them all.
By the way, be careful with that asbestos cement!
It is funny seeing the asbestos cement. I don't even think you can purchase it anymore ... not that I would. I am sure there is some kind alternative.

Interesting ... I see this is a Soviet transistor .... ebay lists many from the Ukranine and even with shipping they are relatively cheap. Thanks!

You can get fire cement for sealing joins in flues for stoves. I wonder if that would be similar.

I’m sure that at the moment the Ukrainians would much rather have dollars in their bank accounts than a shed full of old transistors.

We are on the same wavelength! I was going to out to the workshop and see if I still had some joint compound that I used a few years ago to help a friend seal a flue where it exited his garage (sealed around cement blocks). It was brittle but maybe I could add some fiberglass to it so it was a bit less brittle (not that I am going to drop kick this).

Yes, here in America, the war doesn't even make the news anymore ... sad.

Thanks again!
