Hi everybody,
I have a wireless remote that is needed to control a gas fireplace in our house. One of its features is a completely unnecessary and incredibly obnoxious beep every time you touch it. Anyone have an idea of how to disable it?
Thanks!

I was wondering if that was in fact the speaker. It’s huge! No wonder the thing’s so loud. Do you think I could just remove it completely?

Hi Jag,
You could quickly confirm that it is the buzzer by trying the sticky tape.
The problem with removing the beeper is that you may damage the copper tracks.

I use sticky tape on some of my beepers, works OK.

NOTE:the BZ1 coding on the PCB, near that buzzer/beeper

I have confirmed that it is in fact the speaker, but tape does very little to soften the piercing noise of it. I believe the manufacturer must have gotten a discount on a surplus of smoke detector alarms or something and they decided to use them in place of something that would be pleasing to the ear. Do you guys think I could melt the solder on either contact and remove it, or might that destroy everything? I really have no clue what I’m looking at with all of this. Here is a better photo for consideration. IMG_5937.jpegIMG_5938.jpegIMG_5939.jpeg
